Entity medical malpractice insurance responds to claims alleging negligence by the organisation, including failures in systems, supervision, policies, staffing or clinical governance.

Entity medical malpractice insurance protects the healthcare organisation itself against claims arising from the delivery of healthcare services, including organisational failures, systems issues and vicarious liability for staff and contractors. Doctors’ medical indemnity insurance protects the individual practitioner against claims arising from their personal clinical decisions, advice or treatment. In many healthcare settings, both types of cover are required, as claims can be brought against both the practitioner and the entity arising from the same incident.
